| Lisa G. Sherman, Attorney at Law |
|
Lisa G. Sherman graduated from the University of Rochester in 1990 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science. Surrounded by a family full of physicians (all of whom hated lawyers) and deathly afraid of the sight of blood, she took refuge in law school. Ms. Sherman journeyed west to Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri, where she graduated in 1993. Much to her own surprise, she was awarded an American Jurisprudence Award in Trial Advocacy (most likely, for her ability to persuasively talk herself out of any situation). Ms. Sherman has practiced labor and employment law ever since graduation, having done her time at the nations largest labor and employment firm, two highly prestigious boutique law firms in California and Nevada, and contracting on her own. She has had great success as a litigator representing her clients in court and before administrative agencies and arbitration panels. She has published a number of articles on various labor and employment law issues. Most notably, she authored, “Exempt or Not Exempt under the Administrative Exemption of the Fair Labor Standards Act-That is the Question,” 11 The Labor Lawyer 209 (1995); “The New Legal Challenge to Employee Participation,” 45 Labor Law Journal 1 (1994); “Sexually Provocative Dress Code May Result in Liability,” Nevada Labor Letter, Vol II, No. 5, May 1994; “Managing Leaves of Absence and Controlling Fraud,” Personnel Law Update Seminar, Spring 1994; and “Fraternization and Dating Policies: May Employers Regulate Matters of the Heart?” 8 Personnel Law Update 12 (1993). |
